‘It’d be nice to go to Madrid alive’

Captain Cesar Remon is keen that his Alcoyano teammates follow their Coach’s advice and forget the names in the Real Madrid team they will face this week.

The Valencian minnows in the Segunda Division B welcome the League champions to El Collao this Wednesday for the first leg of their round of 32 clash.

“It is the kind of game you always dream of someday playing. Against us will be 95 per cent of those players that so far we have only watched on TV,” Cesar Remon told reporters in the build-up today.

“For us to progress we will have to deal with them. The Coach has tried to instil in us that they are players like us and that we must forget the names.

“We will have our chances but up front they will have some aircraft that can kill you with their play and you cannot expect less. They are the best team in the world without any doubt.

“We should try to be as competitive as possible to try to cause an upset and why not, dream of 1-0 or 2-1 to go back to the Bernabeu with for the return match.

“These last few days have been crazy and now I just want to play. We did not imagine that there would be such an impact to facing Real Madrid.

“We trust that it will be a good show and that our fans will enjoy it. It would be nice to go to Madrid still alive…”
