Betis strike early to beat Valencia

An early goal from Salva Sevilla was enough to give Real Betis a 1-0 win against Valencia at Estadio Benito Villamarin.

With Pepe Mel's men looking to maintain their impressive start to the campaign, it was no surprise to see them dominating the opening exchanges.

And they turned that domination into a goal within the first 10 minutes. Sevilla received the ball on the edge of the area, and hit a shot into the bottom right-hand corner.

The away team slowly started to get back in the game however, and could of equalised after half an hour, but Roberto Soldado could only shoot wide inside the six yard area.

After the interval, Los Che continued to cede possession, but managed to create the clearest of the opportunities – the best of them falling to that man Soldado again. The 27-year-old spurned a glorious one-on-one opportunity after only 55 minutes.

The home team then succeeded in turning the game into a scrappy affair, and could have doubled their lead late on, only for Jorge Molina to head wide from inside the area.

They managed to nullify Mauricio Pellegrino's men though, and held out for a valuable three points to momentarily move up to fourth in the table.
