Pellegrino brushes off goalkeeper talk

Valencia boss Mauricio Pellegrino has expressed his frustration at the continual speculation over which goalkeeper he favours.

The Argentine, who has flitted between Diego Alves and Vicente Guaita throughout the campaign, was asked who would start between the sticks against Real Betis tomorrow in a Press conference.

“I'll play a goalkeeper,” he quipped. “I do not know why this becomes the big issue before every game. Nobody asks me about Antonio Barragan or Tino Costa or Dani Parejo.”

Pellegrino's side recorded an impressive 3-0 win over BATE Borisov in midweek but there have been questions asked about their midfield, and whether the balance is right with three central midfielders starting.

“There are very few Spanish teams that play with two midfielders. Besides Jonas when he plays does so behind the striker.

“We cannot wait to rub the lamp a few times to get into the game against Betis. Talent comes from a team effort, we must give everything on the field.”
