Del Nido hits back at Sevilla critics

Sevilla President Jose Maria del Nido has hit back at critics after whistles and chants against him in Monday’s game with Real Mallorca.

Some fans have recently been critical of his style of management but Del Nido says he will stay strong, his decisions are always firm, and he has a very clear idea of where both he and Los Nervionenses are heading.

Speaking at a supporters’ club meeting in La Campana, Del Nido began by recalling when he first arrived at the club.

“At that time I was accompanied by Pablo Alfaro and I had the strength to take charge. However, I can assure you that it is nothing compared to the strength I have today.

“I have the same force, the same spirit, the same desire and the same enthusiasm, but above all I have the experience of having achieved milestones for Sevilla that nobody thought we could have attained.

“Let nobody think that we are going to stop along the way for anyone who wants to trip us up, because we will not vary our plan of action as much as they want to scream.

“They will not break the will of an entire board for all their shouting at the Sanchez Pizjuan.”

Similarly, Del Nido insisted he also had blind faith in boss Michel and director of football Monchi after a disappointing end to last season.

“The feelings are good. Michel has stood up to everything and the League table says that Sevilla fans can be optimistic.

“The sports management side has been reconstructed over time and through perseverance so we now have a squad that, while beyond the means of Sevilla, can fight to achieve sporting success.

“I’m sure that this year we are going to be battling the big teams to get what we all want, our Sevilla near the top of the table and competing in the cup competitions, if that is at all possible,” he concluded.
