Andreu Fontas is hopeful that his new Mallorca teammates can raise their game this weekend when welcoming Real Madrid into town.
Los Blancos arrive at the Iberostar Stadium this Sunday evening for Week 9’s fixture, which the on-loan youngster reflected will be demanding on Los Bermellones.
“We have to work at our game a bit more, knowing that we will face a very difficult opponent, who will come with more motivation and desire after losing to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League,” Fontas told reporters today.
“Against Madrid we must stand up, defender well together and take our chances. It will be a similar game to that against Sevilla [last Monday], who are also a great team.
“This will be a special game for me, for my Barca connection, I have really wanted to play against a great team.”
The tall defender, who can also play in defensive midfield, made his debut for the islanders last weekend, just days after completing his loan switch from Catalonia.
“I did not expect to play so soon and I was surprised. Anyway, I said upon my arrival at Mallorca that I would work hard and follow the orders of Joaquin Caparros. He decided to play me and I was delighted.”
