Del Bosque gets Casillas’ vote

Real Madrid and Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas would give national team boss Vicente del Bosque his vote as Coach of the Year.

According to Onda Cero, Casillas places Del Bosque ahead of his club boss Jose Mourinho, who he considers deserves to be in second spot, while Chelsea’s Champions League-winning Roberto di Matteo is selected as third choice.

Casillas has already given his verdict on who he would like to see win the prestigious Ballon d’Or award, picking teammate Sergio Ramos ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Xavi Hernandez.

Thirty-one-year-old Casillas is due to pick up the Prince of Asturias award on Friday alongside Xavi, the pair having been picked for their 13 years of friendship and good relations despite playing for Spain’s eternal rivals Madrid and Barca.

The Ballon d’Or and Coach of the Year awards are chosen by the captains and Coaches of all FIFA national teams along with journalists from respected publication France Football.
