Negredo waits for Del Bosque call

Alvaro Negredo is hoping his two goals in Sevilla’s 3-2 victory over Real Mallorca will help him regain his place in the Spain squad.

The 27-year-old now has six La Liga goals to his name this season, despite losing his place in Vicente del Bosque’s plans following Euro 2012, and is banking on the La Roja boss taking note.

“It’s the only way to get back into the national team, scoring goals and working hard. Now I’m just hoping for the call from Del Bosque,” he told a post-match Press conference.

On the game, Negredo felt Sevilla were clearly superior to the Islanders in spite of Joaquin Caparros’ men taking the initial advantage.

“It was a good game on the part of both teams. In the first half they had two chances and scored two goals and we were up against it, but we didn’t lose our composure.”

He also made it clear that the performance was the real Sevilla and not the one that crashed to Celta Vigo two weeks ago.

“The game in Vigo was not the real Sevilla. This is the level we are at and we clearly dominated.

“Yes, we made some mistakes in the first half, but after the break we were in control,” he added.
