Cruyff: Too early to judge Tito

Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff has commended Tito Vilanova's early work as Coach of the club, but says this is not the time to judge.

Barca are top of La Liga having won seven of their eight fixtures since Vilanova succeeded his former colleague Pep Guardiola.

“Everything is going very well for him now, as we all expected,” former Blaugrana player, Coach and director Cruyff told The Daily Mail.

“He knows the players, knows the club, and along with Guardiola was part of a team that was very successful.

“This is not the time to judge though, that will come when something goes wrong. When things go wrong, when there is a crisis, that is when you see what the Coach is capable of."

The outspoken Dutchman preferred not to make any comparisons between the current Barca side and his fondly remembered early nineties 'Dream Team.'

“There is no way to compare this team with the one I coached. It's silly to try. All I can say is we had some fantastic players who did incredible things, and this team has some fantastic players who do incredible things.

“Lionel Messi is the star, of course. But he plays so well because he has Xabi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas to help. Just look at the difference when he plays with Argentina, where there is less support. But Messi plays in another league, he's from another planet.”
