Khedira to start in Dortmund

Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira will return to the starting line-up for the Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund.

The German international missed the 2-0 victory over Celta Vigo at the weekend with a hamstring injury picked up in a World Cup qualifier against the Republic of Ireland last week.

However, the 25-year-old has returned to training and reports in Spain say he will be a definite starter at the Westfalenstadion on Wednesday and will form a double pivot with Xabi Alonso in central midfield, to the detriment of Luka Modric.

It is understood that boss Jose Mourinho will also give the nod to Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria, who were both on the bench against Celta, with Gonzalo Higuain and Kaka the ones to make way.

Brazilian international Kaka returned triumphant from his country’s World Cup qualifiers but was replaced at half-time on Saturday by Di Maria, who will stay in the side.
