Imanol Agirretxe believes that three points at home to Atletico Madrid this Sunday would be very valuable to Real Sociedad.
La Real welcome as-yet-unbeaten Atleti to Anoeta for the late kick-off on Sunday on a strong run of form at home.
Philippe Montanier’s side have won their opening three games of the season in front of their home crowd, stretching a competitive unbeaten run at the ground back to March.
“The team wants to continue its streak at Anoeta. These are three important points against a team that for us to beat, would leave us with a very good feeling,” striker Agirretxe told reporters today.
“Atletico are picking up good results and are very strong, but beating them would be very positive for the group.
“It is clear that at Anoeta we are very reliable and a win would certify the momentum the team have at home. But, Atleti are very strong, they have a very aggressive group mentality. We will have to prepare for that kind of game too.”
For Agirretxe, the game is also an opportunity to test his striking skills directly against current joint top scorer in the Division Radamel Falcao.
“It makes me especially excited to play against a great team and to face Falcao, it is special for me. He is one of the best strikers in the world and to play against him would be special.”
