Pizzi hopes Messi sits out

Deportivo La Coruna striker Luis Pizzi hopes the rumour that Barcelona will rest Lionel Messi tomorrow proves to be true.

Messi played in both of Argentina's World Cup qualification wins over Uruguay and Chile and it has been suggested Tito Vilanova will bench his star man at Riazor, just as he did against Getafe earlier in the season.

“Of course it would be better if Messi didn't play,” Pizzi began at a Press conference. “But Barca re not only Messi, they are Iniesta, and Xavi.

“They're all good and we will try to stop them all. They are one of the best teams in the world, if not the best.

“You have to work hard, have luck and hope that they don't have a good day. We must defend and be together when Barca have the ball.”

The 23-year-old is pleased that parent club Atletico Madrid have bought him out from Sporting Braga.

“It's a vote of confidence. Last year was a year of transition. Deportivo want me to help them have a good season, then we'll see. Because Atletico pay €13.5m doesn't make me better or worse, I know I have to work every day.”
