Sevilla chase German midfielder

Sevilla are hot on the trail of Borussia Monchengladbach defensive midfielder Tony Jantschke, according to Transfermarkt.

Los Rojiblancos’ President Jose Maria del Nido has not ruled out the possibility of players moving in and out of the Sanchez Pizjuan in the winter transfer market, with Jantschke just one of the names on the Andalusian club’s radar.

Besides operating in midfield, the versatile 22-year-old can also act at central defender as well as filling in at right-back, and is understood to command a fee of around €4m.

Formed in Borussia’s youth academy, Jantschke made his Bundesliga debut on November 29, 2008 and scored his first goal seven days later in a game against Bayer Leverkusen, becoming the third-youngest goalscorer in the club’s history at 18 years and 243 days.

Curiously enough, Jantschke first came to Sevilla’s attention when Monchengladbach faced them in a friendly in Germany last summer.
