Marcelo aiming for fast recovery

Marcelo has thanked Real Madrid fans for their messages of support and promised to return from his broken foot as soon as possible.

The Brazilian is facing up to three months on the sidelines after fracturing the fifth metatarsal in his right foot during training with his national team over the weekend.

“I am happy for the messages of support from the fans. I never knew so many loved me and I thank you all. I want to recover well so as to give more joy to the fans,” the 24-year-old told his club’s official website today.

“I will do everything well to return quickly and be with the team again. This cannot remove the smile from anyone, least of all mine, I’m always happy. It has happened and now I have to work hard to return to play.

“I hope [the injury] is the first and last time. I would not wish this on anyone. These are the things that can happen in training and in games and now I have to do all the right things to return as soon as a I can to the team. I have a strong head and am in good spirits, my colleagues and family can help me recover.”
