Luis Enrique: Let’s enjoy Barca

Former Barcelona B boss Luis Enrique insists that fans should enjoy the club’s star players while they have the chance.

Enrique, who resigned as boss of Roma at the end of last season following the club’s failure to qualify for European competition, was at the Mini Estadi at the weekend to see Barcelona’s second string beat Sporting Gijon 3-0.

The 42-year-old represented both Barca and Real Madrid during his playing career and told Barca TV that the Catalans ‘are having the best-ever time in the club’s history and that is something to relish’.

He also commented on Tito Vilanova’s start as boss at the Camp Nou .
“Tito is following the same line as before and although he has changed some specific things the style and identity of his team is what the supporters like.

“Barca are the only club that interests me and we are so good that there is no need to look at any others,” said Enrique, who admitted he found it strange to see Sporting Gijon up against Barcelona’s reserve team.

“I found it odd to see Sporting playing in the Mini Estadi. I’d rather see them at the Camp Nou but I suppose each team has its own sporting and economic situation.

“[Barca B boss] Eusebio [Sacristan] and his technical team are doing excellent work with a good rotation system.

“You can see that on the pitch and there are few teams better than them in this League [La Segunda]. I hope they can surpass what I did,” added Enrique, who steered the B team to promotion during his time in charge.
