Ramos sits out La Roja training

Defender Sergio Ramos was forced to sit out Spain’s first training session after the 4-0 win over Belarus due to muscular problems.

Boss Vicente del Bosque replaced Ramos with Raul Albiol 20 minutes from time in Minsk, saying ‘we have taken him off as a precaution as we’ll need him against France on Tuesday’.

The Real Madrid man was left to do specific work in the gymnasium but it is hoped he will be able to join the rest of the group on Monday before the game at the Vicente Calderon.

Del Bosque has already lost fellow centre-backs Gerard Pique and Carles Puyol from his squad and against Belarus it was Sergio Busquets, normally a midfielder, who partnered Ramos at the heart of the La Roja defence.
