Khedira waiting for Barca stumble

Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira admits 'it's not a good feeling' having to rely on Barcelona slipping up.

Real are currently fifth in La Liga with 11 points, eight less than leaders Barca.

“It's not a good feeling having to wait on Barcelona failing,” said Khedira in an interview with the German federation's website.

“But the season has just begun and I'm sure something good will happen if we win our games and our performances are consistent.”

Los Blancos emerged with credit from their 2-2 draw with Barca at Camp Nou last Sunday but the former Stuttgart man confessed the players were frustrated by the result.

“We would have liked to win. The development of the game was very positive for us, so we were upset at not being able to defeat them.”

The 25-year-old then reflected on his status within the team, and the upcoming Champions League double header against Borussia Dortmund.

“So far I've been lucky, I've been chosen to play in almost all the games. This is my third year at Real, and when I've been fit I've almost always played.

“The evolution of Borussia is phenomenal. Marco Reus, Mario Goetze and Marcel Schmelzer are fantastic players. They put Manchester City up against the wall. Now they are one of the big teams, we know that.”

Khedira, alongside several Dortmund players, is in Dublin with the German national side to take on the Republic of Ireland on World Cup qualifying duty.
