Pepe labels Barca players ‘theatrical’

Real Madrid central defender Pepe labelled Barcelona players ‘theatrical’ following the 2-2 Clasico draw at the Camp Nou.

The Portuguese international declared himself pleased with his side’s display but had words to say about the antics of Tito Vilanova’s men, particularly Andres Iniesta who had a penalty claim against Pepe turned down.

“Today we played a great game. In the first half Barca had one opportunity and took it while we had Karim Benzema’s chance then later perhaps a penalty on [Mesut] Ozil, but overall we fought well against them.

“Iniesta was looking for me in the area. He pulls you and does a thousand turns but they are like that, very theatrical,” he told assembled media.

Pepe also commented on the part played by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who shared all the goals between them, and came down on Ronaldo’s side when asked about who was the world’s best player.

“They are two great footballers. In my opinion Cristiano is much more complete, above all from free-kicks. For me he is the best in the world.”
