Granada stun Mallorca

Granada inflicted a shock second consecutive defeat on Mallorca this Sunday evening, for their second consecutive win of the term.

After a goalless first half the game livened up in the second when Emilio Nsue felled Gabriel Torje in the penalty box. The Mallorca man received a straight red as Youssef El-Arabi converted the spot-kick.

However, just two minutes after that Granada were also down to 10 men when Yacine Brahimi received a second yellow card.

Even so, the visitors strengthened their position in the game soon after thanks to Romanian Torje, who was quickest to latch on to a through ball from El-Arabi and finished the ball high into the roof of the net.

The home side rallied and pulled a goal back late on through Tomer Hemed’s header, but it was too little too late for the islanders.

The 2-1 win is Granada’s second victory of the season to follow on from last weekend, just as the defeat is the second in a row for Joaquin Caparros’ men to digest.
