Power cut delayed Betis-Sociedad

Real Betis’ home match with Real Sociedad kicked off late on Saturday evening thanks to a power outage at the stadium.

Unlike at Rayo Vallecano earlier in the season where vandals cut the power to sections of the Vallecas, the Benito Villamarin was plunged into pre-match darkness due to a power cut that affected much of the city of Seville too.

The outage occurred just 10 minutes before the game was scheduled to kick off, with the players having already completed their pre-match warm-up and retired to the dressing rooms to prepare for the game.

As fans and the teams waited for full power to be restored, both sets of players returned to the field to continue warming up, with the floodlights quickly turning back on, ahead of the main power returning.

Full power soon returned and the game was able to proceed, 17 minutes late. The match was won by Betis 2-0.
