Michel: Sevilla were poor

Michel was critical afterwards of his Sevilla side’s 2-0 defeat to Celta Vigo, suggesting that the team were unrecognisable from previous form.

Los Rojiblancos fell to a second consecutive defeat of the season in what Michel indicated was their first bad performance of the season.

“My impression is very bad. We cannot deliver this performance after how well we had done in the previous six games. We have been poor and there is no getting around it.

“We need to correct ourselves and learn from what we did wrong [last night] because if we do not have that distinguishing mark that we previously had as a team, then we become unrecognisable.”

The Coach was given the opportunity to suggest the absences of Gary Medel, Ivan Rakitic and Piotr Trochowski influenced the game, but declined.

“I cannot contradict myself. If I talk about having a competitive squad, now I cannot say that the injuries and suspensions are to blame for this performance.”
