Plzen deserved to draw says Vrba

Viktoria Plzen boss Pavel Vrba felt his team deserved a draw after falling to a last-gasp Cristian Rodriguez goal at Atletico Madrid.

Vrba also claimed he was sad to have walked away from the Vicente Calderon not having taken anything, but acknowledged the hardest game his side will face in their Europa League group is now out of the way.

“We played as we have done in the last few games,” Vrba told a Press conference.

“In the first half we were the better side and had goalscoring opportunities that miraculously we were unable to convert.

“After the break we lowered our guard and Atletico multiplied in strength. Thanks to a great goal from Cebolla [Rodriguez] the result was changed.

“We’re sad not have got a point but we’ve now played the most difficult game in the group,” he concluded.
