Djukic: We must stay at 120 per cent

Miroslav Djukic is keen for his Real Valladolid side to maintain their positive energy from last weekend in welcoming Espanyol in Week 7.

Los Pucelanos recorded a 6-1 victory at home to Rayo Vallecano last Sunday and welcome struggling Espanyol to the Estadio Jose Zorilla this weekend with their Coach eager for more of the same.

“We will try to make Zorilla a fort because we need to continue this good form,” Djukic expressed today.

“It is one more game. We must be in good shape and keep progressing, improving. Nobody can win when they are 50 per cent. We have to play at 120 per cent to win any match. At our best we can compete with anyone, if we are not then it is very difficult, because this League is very competitive.”

In Espanyol, Djukic recognises a tricky customer.

“We need to start well from the first minute. Espanyol need the points and are a good team on the counter-attack, because they let loose with two forwards and another loss could be fatal for them.

“It is their strongest feature. They have paid the price for not being consistent, as can anyone.”

The Coach was also asked about the selection dilemma in attack, with Manucho, Javi Guerra and Alberto Bueno all competing for spots.

“They are professionals and have to abide by any decision. They have to prove every day that I am wrong. I’m no god. When they show themselves consistently and they work, they are deserving and I have no problem in recognising my mistakes…but not every day, I have to make clear.”
