Sparta kick Bilbao when they’re down

Defender Jiri Jarosik says Sparta Prague intend to fully exploit Athletic Bilbao's problems in the Europa League tomorrow.

Los Leones have been in poor form domestically and began their European campaign with a 1-1 draw against Hapoel Kiryat Shmona.

Matchday two sees them travel to Prague to take on Jarosik and Sparta, who lost their opener 2-1 in Lyon.

“Bilbao have problems, and there will be an opportunity to delve into the wound,” Jarosik stated in a pre-match press conference.

The former Celtic man is well acquainted with Athletic and with Ander Herrera in particular having played with him at Real Zaragoza.

“Herrera is a very talented player. He now plays in the Spanish Under 21s and I expect him to reach the senior side, confirming his quality.”

Sparta also go into the game on a run of bad League results.

“Tomorrow is something different,” Jarosik stressed. “A very big challenge, and an opportunity to turn around our negative streak.

“I think our chances of success are the same as they were in the qualifying round, against Feyenoord. But I'm not going to speculate.

“Fernando Llorente is interesting, not your typical Spanish striker but very tall, very strong. He knows me well and I think I will be able to defend against him. But maybe Aritz Aduriz will play.”
