Cabral: Sevilla struggle without Medel

Celta Vigo's Gustavo Cabral believes Sevilla midfielder Gary Medel's potential absence could swing Friday's game in his side's favour.

Chilean Medel was issued with a two match ban today, having been sent off for appearing to headbutt Cesc Fabregas in Sevilla's 3-2 defeat to Barcelona last weekend. However the Competition Committee have admitted that Fabregas' reaction was exaggerated, and the Andalusian club plan to appeal.

“Medel is the player that gives balance to Sevilla,” Cabral told AS. “He cuts out a lot of balls and then plays quickly, I think without him they will suffer greatly.

“Sevilla is a great rival. Though they lost to Barcelona they played a great game and will come to our home looking to recoup. They are a mature team that has great players.”

Celta have bested Osasuna and Getafe in their last two games at Balaidos and Cabral is hoping their home form will see Paco Herrera's side through.

“We're getting strong at home and that is paramount. We must continue in this direction.”

The test against Los Nervionenses begins a difficult run of fixtures for Cabral and co. which also sees them take on Real Madrid and Barcelona.

“They are very difficult opponents, starting with Sevilla,” added the Argentine. “We have been losing on the road, and must try to be more consistent in this area. We need to start conceding less.”
