Mourinho: Ajax pose threat

Real Madrid Coach Jose Mourinho has admitted his side will come up against a tough opponent in Ajax on Wednesday evening.

The Spanish champions will travel to Amsterdam Arena to face the Eredivisie winners' in the Champions League tomorrow, and the Portuguese tactician has conceded that they will be pose a difficult proposition.

“They are a team that has improved a lot,” he told a press conference. “They have adapted better to Champions League football. They have changed many of their players over the past year, but they always maintain the same philosophy.

“It will be the fifth time they have faced us in a short space of time, so they know what to expect and will be well prepared.

“[Ajax boss] Frank de Boer is a champion. We don't speak much but I have a lot of respect for him.

“We want to return to Madrid with a draw, but if we win, even better.”

He also bluntly commented on the reported break down in his relationship with defender Sergio Ramos.

“I have no problems with him. He has no problems with me. He is a great professional.”

The former Chelsea man concluded by remarking on El Clasico against Barcelona, and whether that game, to be played on Sunday October 7, will distract the players.

“I have a Champions League match tomorrow, and that is motivation enough,” he said. “The Champions League is a great motivator, and in this group, every point is vital.”
