Sevilla dismissals explained

Sevilla Coach Michel was sent from the technical area for repeating shouting ‘you have no shame’, according to the referee’s notes from the Barcelona game.

Michel’s side saw a two-goal lead turned around to a 3-2 defeat on Saturday evening, whilst he was dismissed for taking protests against the match official too far.

According to Mateu Lahoz’ notes, the Coach was sent to the stands for ‘targeting the match officials, orally and gesturing with his hands up and out of his technical area as follows (on repeated occasion): ‘you have no shame’’.

Michel denied in his post-match Press conference insulting the referee. The tactician was angered by an apparent handball by Thiago Alcantara that was missed in the build-up to Barca’s equalising goal.

Meanwhile, Gary Medel’s straight red has been confirmed as being for ‘striking a headbutt in the face of an opponent without the ball in play’.
