‘If I could remove one Real player…’

Daniel Aranzubia has reflected today on which Real Madrid player he would remove from tomorrow’s team to play his Deportivo side.

The goalkeeper faced the Press today ahead of his and his teammates visit to the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday.

“From Madrid, if I could remove any of their players, Cristiano is a great striker and I wish that he were not playing, but if he plays, we will have to try and stop him,” mused Aranzubia.

“You are up against the best players in the world who will create many chances. We know that whoever is playing in goal and in defence will have to do most of the work.

“It’s important not to concede in the first few minutes because if they score then they will grow even more in confidence and it would be even more difficult for us.”

The player was asked how the game compares to others in terms of motivation.

“The motivation for these games is easy. Maybe in other games you have more influence, but here, no matter how young you are, you come and motivate yourself, with the bonus that would not come from other games.

“I do not think that the younger players will be afraid to play the Bernabeu, though.”
