Colotto hopeful of injury return

Espanyol defender Diego Colotto says he is ready to play after two months out with a broken metatarsal.

The 31-year-old centre back joined the Periquitos over the summer from Deportivo La Coruna, but is yet to make his debut.

“I have been working with the group since September 18,” he told AS. “And I'm picking up the pace in order to be playing with the team. I'm feeling better and better everyday.

“I do not think a team changes with the return of one player, unless they're the best in the world – and that isn't the case with me.”

The former Argentina Under-20 international also commented on the weekend game against Atletico Madrid, paying special attention to the attacking qualities of Diego Simeone's team.

“Although each team in the league has very important players in attack, Atletico also have Adrian and Diego Costa, not just Radamel Falcao.”

Colotto concluded by remarking on the side's current start to the season, which has seen them take just one point from the first five games.

“I think the team has been playing some very good football,” he said. “But unfortunately, we have not achieved the results we wanted. We will continue to go game-by-game, and just play our normal football.”
