Mourinho: Kaka has made me think

Jose Mourinho admitted that Kaka’s hat-trick in the 8-0 Trofeo Bernabeu drubbing of Millonarios on Wednesday has ‘made me think’.

The Brazilian star took advantage of the fixture, organised in honour of Madrid Legend Alfredo di Stefano, to remind Mourinho that he could still have a part to play in his squad this season.

It was the first time Kaka had featured in an official match this term and the Portuguese readily confessed at a post-match Press conference that he was impressed by what he saw.

“Kaka played well, like all the team, while we kept a solid structure. His reply and that of the team was possible because he dedicates himself to working well, as do the others that have not played so far.

“Naturally, when they show this ambition and motivation to do well then the consequence is that the Coach has more confidence in them and puts them in the team for official matches.

“Kaka and the others showed qualities to put their name in the Coach's head when the time comes to decide, and it has made me think,” affirmed Mourinho.

Analysing the game, Mourinho said he was convinced that the Colombian outfit had not played to their usual standard.

“I've seen a couple of videos of them and their players are better than what they've shown tonight, yet we went out with the intention of winning this trophy.

“We attacked their self-belief and their confidence and scored early. They treated the match as a friendly and didn’t play with aggression or take any chances.

“It’s a shame because eight goals is a lot, but I know they are a better team than this”

Finally, he commented on the two youth players he gave debuts to – Derik Osede and Mario Hermoso.

“The involvement of Castilla players is not new. They are ready to play in the first team and give their support. All those coming behind [Alvaro] Morata and Nacho are first team squad players.”
