Real Madrid President Florentino Perez and Atletico Madrid general manager Miguel Angel Gil have reportedly met for the first time in 18 months.

The duo headed a breakdown of relations between the clubs in 2011, amid reports of Real’s interest in then-Atleti player Sergio Aguero.

This was made worse in the following months with Atleti’s increasing support for Sevilla President Jose Maria del Nido’s stance against Real and Barcelona in the debate over television revenue distribution in La Liga.

However, Perez and Gil Marin are reported by El Confidencial as coming together for a meal this week to begin to mend their working relationship. Real’s general manager Jose Angel Sanchez and Atletico’s President Enrique Cerezo were also present.

A believed term to their previous good understanding as clubs was that neither would sign players from the other’s youth academy any more.
