Tebas defends LFP actions

The Spanish League’s (LFP) Vice-President has defended the organisation in the wake of the Rayo Vallecano-Real Madrid postponement.

The game at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas was called off on Sunday after alleged sabotage of the stadium’s lighting system and has now been rearranged for Monday night, with a 7.45pm local time kick-off.

Real Madrid had requested the match to be played at 5pm local time and in broad daylight so there was no chance of a recurrence but it was turned down by the LFP, who have since come in for criticism in certain quarters.

However, Tebas has jumped to defend the LFP via his account with social network Twitter.

“Blaming the LFP for what happened in Vallecas yesterday is to lack information. At this rate they will be blaming the LFP for the death of Manolete [a famous Spanish bullfighter who was gored to death in the ring in 1947].

“The only ones to be blamed for what happened are the saboteurs. They have damaged the world of football, make no mistake about it,” he tweeted.
