Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova faces losing another defender after Adriano was taken off injured in the 2-0 win over Granada.
The Brazilian international had to leave the pitch in the 72nd minute with muscular problems to be replaced by youngster Cristian Tello, and will be submitted to tests on Sunday.
The 27-year-old may have paid the price for the number of games he has played recently, according to Sport, having taken part in five consecutive games – three in La Liga, the return leg of the Supercopa de Espana and Brazil’s 8-0 rout of Jose Antonio Camacho’s China.
Vilanova already has Gerard Pique and Carles Puyol on the sidelines and was forced to pick a central defensive pairing of Alex Song and Javier Mascherano for the Granada match.
However, the good news is that Jordi Alba has recovered from illness and will be able to deputise for Adriano if tests show he could be out for any length of time.
