Jimenez: ‘Win difficult but vital’

Real Zaragoza Coach Manolo Jimenez has reflected that his side’s 3-1 victory over Osasuna today was difficult but vital.

“This win was vital. We knew both teams would be hit by losing, more so for us, as we had already lost two games in a row at home,” began the Spanish tactician in his post match interview.

“The victory was difficult because the opponent, although not in good form this season, is tough and hard, and because the pitch affects everyone, particularly those who intend to play and because the heat was stifling.”

The 48-year-old stressed that he saw an improvement in his team’s ability to handle set pieces, which had marked previous games.

The victory moves Los Blanquillos up to mid-table, while Osasuna are in crisis, as they remain rooted bottom of La Liga on one point.
