‘Osasuna can’t compete in La Primera’

Osasuna Coach Jose Luis Mendilibar has hit out as his team for losing at Real Zaragoza, saying they are currently ‘unable to compete in La Primera’.

The Basque outfit fell to a 3-1 defeat at La Romareda this afternoon and whilst they had chances to score more than the one goal they managed, particularly at 1-2 and then 1-3, Mendilibar overlooked this in his critique.

“My team cannot compete in La Primera at the moment,” declared the tactician straight after the game.

“If Zaragoza, a team that is struggling, can score three goals against us, then we have much to improve.

“We do not act as a team, we are making a tremendous effort but without cooperation, we need to fight, attack, but when things go bad we fall into disarray.

“The players are honest, but football is a game where each must communicate with their teammates and that is seen in some cases, but applicable to all. I have noticed very little personality.

“Osasuna cannot continue like this.”

The side are rooted to the foot of the table and now have just one point from five games played.
