Michel is hoping Sevilla don’t rest on their laurels when they travel to Galicia to face Deportivo on Monday night.
Sevilla have earned praise from all quarters following their 1-0 victory against Real Madrid last weekend, a result that left them unbeaten and in fourth place in La Liga after four matches.
As they prepare to face a Depor side who are also defending an unbeaten record, Michel wants his players to build on their performance against the champions.
“The praise we have received has been fantastic as it’s an endorsement of the work the players have put in,” he said.
“We are full of energy and adrenaline and now we need to keep using it because beating Madrid is fine but now we need to go out and win in La Coruna.
“We [the coaching staff] were hoping there would be plenty of competition and that the team would not rest on their laurels after last week’s win.
“We won't allow that and they won’t allow that either. I already warned that we were in good shape ahead of the Madrid game. To beat them is one step up the ladder but to win at Riazor would be just the same.
“We shouldn't forget that Deportivo are unbeaten too. You can't be over-confident just because you have beaten Madrid.”
The former Getafe boss has the relative luxury of a fully-fit squad to choose from at the moment, although he admitted that that has given him some headaches when it comes to leaving players behind in Andalusia.
What seems certain, though, is that the Sevilla starting line-up will be unchanged in the wake of the Madrid success as they go looking for three points at a venue where they have won just twice in over half a century.
“It is a good problem to have, but it is still a problem leaving six players behind,” he said.
“We need to make decisions for sporting reasons but also for personal reasons. For me, having to leave players out is the worst thing.
“It is hard but I prefer to have all of my players. That is also why I have said in the past that I prefer to work with small squads.
“There could very possibly be tactical changes but in terms of players I don't think so. We can't play the same way we did last week because Depor will be able to counteract that.”
Michel, who added that he is still trying to find the best way for Jose Antonio Reyes to fit into his tactical line-up, also gave his verdict on Jose Mourinho’s eye-catching on-his-knees celebration following Cristiano Ronaldo’s decisive goal for Real Madrid in their 3-2 Champions League win against Manchester City on Tuesday night.
“I can’t celebrate a goal like he did against Manchester City because it would stain my suit and I have a bad knee. But it's good to see a Coach celebrate a goal like that. And I am sure he has more suits.”
