‘Celta not out of their depth’

Iago Aspas believes that Celta Vigo’s mistakes in recent games are not a sign that they are out of depth in the Primera Division.

Mistakes in previous games this season have blighted the team's return to the top flight, but striker Aspas does not believe it is worthy of worry.

“We must learn the lesson so as to avoid repeating the same mistakes in the future,” Aspas reflected, in defending his team’s capacity at the top level.

“In La Primera, teams do not make mistakes. We have made two small ones in two games and opponents have cleaned up.

“In these four games we have had good feelings, expect in the first half against Real Sociedad and the second half at Valencia.

“This team is well beyond the point of making errors, I do not think that we are paying for being out of our depth. Against Valencia we saw that we can stand up to anyone.”

Last weekend, the player was pulled off with 20 minutes to go, which saw Coach Paco Herrera criticised.

“Nobody likes to be substituted, but the Coach always tries to find the best way for the team and when it came to my turn to make way, I had no choice but to do so. The Coach is in charge.”

This coming weekend sees the Galicians welcome Getafe to Balaidos.

“Getafe is a good team, they have a lot of individuals of quality. They do not usually defend and wait for the opponent to attack.

“What we have seen against Real Madrid and Barcelona I do not believe is their normal approach. We are certain that we can beat them.”
