Tomas unhappy at Celta

Celta Vigo winger Joan Tomas claims he is unhappy at Balaidos after being left out of the squad for the trip to Valencia last weekend.

The former Villarreal man was a key member of the team that achieved promotion last term but has played just 16 minutes as a substitute this season.

“I think I did enough to be included in the squad as I worked at a good level in the international break,” the 27-year-old declared in an interview with AS.
“We all like to be appreciated but in this case I was not, although I’m keen to turn my anger into work so I can convince the Coach [Paco Herrera] I should be getting more minutes to prove myself.”

Tomas maintains he did not ask for an explanation regarding his omission and was not given any.

“I neither asked for nor got one. I don’t ask when I’m playing so I’m not going to ask when I’m not, but I would still like to know. Even so, the Coach has no obligation to do so.

“I know we are playing at a higher level this year but what really concerns me is the confidence of the Coach, who now thinks there are other players ahead of me.”
