Apono: Zaragoza playing well

Antonio Galdeano ‘Apono’ believes that whilst Real Zaragoza have room to improve in both defence and attack, they have otherwise been playing well.

The Aragonese fell to a 2-0 defeat at Real Sociedad at the weekend, leaving the side with three points from four rounds played, but 28-year-old Apono says no-one is panicking.

“The team is calm and so is the Coach because he sees perfectly well that every game we have played in we could have won. We believe we have played well. Nobody has a painted face here,” insisted the midfielder to the assembled Press today, before reflecting on where improvement needs to be made.

“We must improve in defending set pieces and we are all motivated to ensure that it doesn’t happen again, but the style of play, I like. We seize the game and know what to do.

“We are not creating chances and we must push into the opposition penalty area a lot more. We have to remove the fear.

“[Helder] Postiga is a great striker for us, but it is true that in some passages of play he is a bit lonely. Anyone can score goals if they move up and down the pitch in a block.”
