Malaga to debut in black

Malaga will have to make their Champions League group stage debut tonight in their changed kit, due to clashing with Zenit St Petersburg.

UEFA rules stipulate that clubs with striped kits must submit three strips for UEFA club competition, whilst clubs without striped kits only need to submit two.

With Tuesday’s visitors Zenit in the latter category and having only submitted two kits – a light blue home strip and an all white away one. Both of these clash with Malaga’s light blue and white striped home shirt, so Malaga will have to wear their away kit to avoid confusion on Tuesday.

It means that the home side will make their official competition debut in front of their home fans, but in their away colours of all black.
