Silva wary of awakening Real beast

Manchester City midfielder David Silva believes a wounded Real Madrid are a dangerous proposition.

The champions of England and Spain do battle at the Santiago Bernabeu this evening as the 2012/13 Champions League kicks off.

Jose Mourinho’s Real have only picked up four of a possible 12 points in the League this season, but Silva has echoed teammate Pablo Zabaleta’s suggestion that Los Blancos remain a threat.

“It is clear that when things are well, you have increased confidence and you can do things without thinking,” the Spanish international told a press conference last night.

“With doubts, everything becomes much more difficult. But for us, this game is dangerous because we can awaken the beast.”

The former Valencia man signed a new five-year contract with City yesterday.

“I’m happy with winning three trophies in two years. I feel very comfortable here, I want to continue growing and winning titles. I’m with the right team to do that.”

Silva rebutted suggestions that his friendship with Spanish internationals in the Real camp might lead him to have any inside information on Cristiano Ronaldo's contract situation.

“When I talk to them we do not talk about these issues. I have nothing to say.”
