Sevilla's Alvaro Negredo remembers the pain of losing 6-2 to Real Madrid twice, but is sure Saturday's meeting will end differently.
Asked about his side's chances against Jose Mourinho's team the Spanish international insisted they would fare better than they have in Real's two most recent visits to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, which both ended 6-2 in the Merengues favour.
“Real Madrid is a big fixture for us,” the striker told SFC Radio. “The last two results hurt us a lot, and I was personally involved in both of them. I think this game is going to be different.”
The 27-year-old, who spent two seasons with Real Madrid Castilla, then commented on international teammate Iker Casillas, a goalkeeper he believes is without equal.
“For me, he is the best in the world. He may be small in stature, but between the sticks, he is the best. Aerial balls is definitely his weak point, but he has improved a lot.”
Negredo addressed the reaction to comments he made a few days ago regarding the ill discipline around the club last season.
“I spoke earlier this week of indiscipline, but my words were misinterpreted. I said I did not blame the Coach, but some members of the squad. This was noticeable day-to-day in the dressing room.
“All that is changing though. My words were for the squad, not the Coach.”
He then praised the club's fans, some of whom are planning to boycott Saturday's game as a result of their ongoing dispute with President Jose Maria del Nido.
“We have to show the fans that we depend on them,” Negredo said. “We are trying our best, but the last thing I want to do is hurt the fans. It is time for them to say they are here, and they won't let Sevilla fail.
“I have great affection for this city and this club. My daughter was born here, so I'll forever have a link to Sevilla.”
