Pedro aware of Getafe challenge

Pedro Rodriguez has acknowledged the difficulties Barcelona may face this weekend when travelling to Getafe.

The Madrid side have already defeated Real Madrid at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez this season and defeated the La Blaugrana on home turf last term.

“We have to recover well [from the international break] and prepare well for the game because it will be difficult, we want to emerge victorious from Getafe,” began the Spaniard in today’s Press conference.

“I don’t know about the dimensions, but it is a smaller field. Either way, they are very good team and their crowd is very good.

“Theirs is like Osasuna and Athletic Bilbao’s in being a difficult stadium to visit. We know as we have played there a lot.”

Barca’s trip is complicated somewhat by the absence of Andres Iniesta and Alexis Sanchez through injury.

“Andres’ injury is a major blow. He is important for the team. The truth is that after being with the national team, the cost of travelling, playing and resting are not ideal, but we’re trying to recover well so as to be in the maximum condition this weekend.”

Pedro has enjoyed a good start to the season and put in a notable performance for Spain against Saudi Arabia late last week.

“I’m training well and I’m working hard. Maybe now I am having better luck in front of goal. I’ve had confidence and fortune in the opening games. I’m doing well and I hope to continue along this path.”

The 25-year-old was then asked about Week 7’s Clasico meeting and if the current five-point advantage over Real Madrid would be useful to go into it with.

“That would be fine. We’d like to get a good lead to go into that game but we have a lot of work starting with Getafe. It’s a tough game that we will have to have an answer to.

“We want to go into the next games with Granada and Sevilla with the best possible options available. I do not know if five points will be critical, but time will tell what the advantage does.”
