Stuani: Too early to judge season

Espanyol striker Christian Stuani says the club's weekend fixture against Athletic Bilbao is 'not the be all and end all'.

The 25-year-old forward has tried to calm fans who have been critical of the Barcelona-based team's poor start to the campaign.

“It is too early to talk about this as an all-important game,” Stuani told AS. “It is normal that the fans are anxious, but that nervousness should not affect us.”

The former Reggina goalscorer was full of praise for his teammates though, and hopeful he can make a mark on the league in 2012/13.

“I rely a lot on my teammates. I am at a great club. Now we must be strong mentally, and stay united as a group. The Coach has made us calm so we can move forward together.

“I have a responsibility to perform,” he added. “I want to help my teammates. If I get time on the pitch I will give it my all. Hopefully I can go on and improve.”
