Sevilla to ‘stand up to Real Madrid’

Defender Antonio Luna is the latest from Sevilla to declare that the club have the ability to ‘stand up to Real Madrid’ this weekend.

Los Nervionenses have been thrashed 6-2 in each of their last two home matches against Los Merengues.

However, in preparing to welcome the defending League champions to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan this weekend, Luna has followed his President in revealing that the Andalucians are confident.

“Last year we were a different team, with another style of play and Coach, nothing like today,” the 21-year-old enthused.

“We cannot forget recent results against them, but I think that this year the team is at a different dynamic and can stand up to Real Madrid.

“To win is always good, much more so when at home in front of our fans. If we do, we will take a big step forward for the future.

“Against Real Madrid we have to deliver a performance with a lot of intensity and be alert to their counter-attacks.”

The player admitted that he is desperate to be a part of that, having not really featured under Michel.

“I want to play, but that’s down to the Coach. I have been used little recently, but I am 100 per cent and for any position that the Coach needs me in.

“What I really want is for the Coach to put me in the starting XI.”
