Dominguez wary of Granada backlash

Deportivo de La Coruna midfielder Juan Dominguez has warned against a backlash when his team visit Granada this Sunday.

The Andalusians have had a disappointing start to the season, having taken just one point from a possible nine, but Dominguez believes Juan Antonio Anquela’s men still represent a significant threat.

“At this stage of the season to have only one point from three games does not mean they are under any pressure. They will be playing at home and I don’t know what that will be like for them.

“The important thing for us is ourselves, that we don’t think it is going to be easy and that we trust in our own game,” Dominguez [pictured, left] told a Press conference.

The 22-year-old considers El Grana to be a very good team after managing to retain their top-flight status last term following promotion the previous season.

“Last year, despite having just come up, they had some top-class players in their squad and also made some good signings, so it is going to be difficult as it is in all matches.”

After the Granada game Depor start a run of fixtures that includes games with Sevilla and Barcelona at Riazor and away fixtures against Real Madrid, Rayo Vallecano and Celta Vigo, but Dominguez maintains he is taking one game at a time.

“We have a tough fixture list, very hard, after this game, but for now we must only focus on Granada, prepare well and not look too far ahead.

“Independent of the games to come our intention is to win in Granada and, if not, get a draw, but we are confident in the way we play.

“Before, we knew it was a privilege to be in La Primera, but after promotion [last season] we appreciate it even more,” he concluded.
