Rossi interested in Roma

Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi is interested in returning to his native Italy and Roma, with the club’s eccentric Coach Zdenek Zeman apparently a major factor.

The 25-year-old was linked with a move to Serie A throughout the summer, but with his recovery from injury only scheduled for February, it meant no offers came in.

The Italian international’s agent Federico Pastorello, however, continues to fuel rumours of a January transfer, identifying Roma as a likely destination. Sky Sport Italia:

“Roma would be an intriguing option for him, as he would love to work with Zeman. Rossi had given the all-clear to the move, but then it never quite materialised.

“There were several clubs who showed an interest, but at this moment we mustn’t be in a rush.”

Rossi injured his cruciate ligament twice last season and is set for a third surgical procedure this month as part of his second round of recovery.

“Another operation is planned between September 20 and 25. If everything goes well, then he will go into the third bout of surgery.

“From that moment it’ll take around five months to see him back on the field.”
