Saudi game useful says Del Bosque

Spain boss Vicente Del Bosque believed Friday night’s 5-0 victory over Saudi Arabia proved a useful workout for his squad.

La Roja travel to Georgia on Tuesday for a World Cup qualifier as they begin the defence of the crown won in Germany in 2010, and Del Bosque says his players’ minds are now concentrated on that.

“It was a useful game that allowed us to make some changes and we looked very comfortable with the ball.

“We did what we had to do and now have our minds set on the next game. We have a lot to play for against Georgia,”

“There is a lot in our locker but the downside is having to choose players who will not participate, but we are looking good.

“All players come to the national team with the necessary emotion and it is not just a routine [for them]. It’s something we need to maintain, “he told a Press conference.

Del Bosque also commented on David Villa’s return to the national side after his lengthy injury lay-off, the Barcelona man getting on the scoresheet with a 63rd minute penalty.

“We mustn’t forget that David is unique. He is the top goalscorer in the history of the Spanish national team and always brings a lot to the side.”
