Silva raring to go on Galicia return

Manchester City winger David Silva is looking forward to turning out for La Roja on Friday in a part of Spain he knows well.

Silva is set to feature for the reigning World and European champions in the friendly clash against Saudi Arabia at the Pasaron stadium in Pontevedra.

It is a short drive from Vigo, where he impressed during a loan spell at Celta back in 2005-06.

The 26-year-old has had a slow start to the campaign at City, after a late return to pre-season training in the wake of Spain's Euro 2012 triumph, but he says he is now raring to go once again.

“I feel good. I was a bit late in returning to City this summer and it takes time to rediscover your rhythm, but now I'm back feeling a hundred percent,” he told a Press conference on the eve of Friday's friendly.

“I remember that spell [at Celta] very fondly. That was right at the start of my professional career, but they were incredible years and the people there treated me brilliantly.

“The team enjoyed a good season and I had a good season too on a personal level. I have great memories of that time," added Silva, who was born and raised in Gran Canaria.
