Valladolid no longer nervous

Alvaro Rubio sees a prepared and nerve-free Real Valladolid after their start to life back in the Primera Division.

“The balance here is good. We have removed the nerves from our debut, as there were many players who had not previously played in La Primera,” the midfielder told today’s Press gathering.

Valladolid have six points on the board from three games played, currently sitting fifth in the table.

“We must continue with the same philosophy, game by game. The international break is useful to polish our preparation after a short pre-season.”

Rubio reflected that the philosophy has been to put aside last weekend’s defeat to Athletic Bilbao.

“We started training on Wednesday from scratch and with the mind set only on the next game against Real Betis.

“We believe that our team was well-prepared last weekend, but Athletic were very offensive and it was impossible to maintain them. After the first goal, it became very difficult.”

Valladolid actually meet Athletic again this Friday, as they host the Basques for the Trofeo Ciudad de Valladolid at Jose Zorilla.
