Capdevila ‘alarmed’ by Espanyol

Joan Capdevila has admitted that Espanyol’s start to the season is ‘somewhat alarming’, but preaches calm and perspective going forward.

Los Periquitos have begun the 2012-13 campaign with three consecutive defeats, leaving them alongside Osasuna as the only teams pointless in the Division from three rounds.

“The situation is somewhat alarming and we cannot make it appear like nothing is happening.

“However, the climate that has been created in recent days is somewhat excessive,” reflected the veteran full-back, before commenting on yesterday’s incident, when around 30 fans turned up to confront the Coach and players at training.

“It’s normal for fans to be angry, we understand them. It is good to bring forward their position and we have to go forward together.

“It happened to me before, but that was in Week 15, or 20, not in the third week. The talks were positive and we are happy. United it will be easier.

“Everyone should be a little calmer, the squad is together and is aware of the urgent need to win.

“Mentality is one of the keys. We have received three hard blows and like it or not, it cannot affect morale or confidence. After the international break we will be fine.”
